CPW Grant Request reviewed:

  • One of the application requirements is for an environmental stewardship (lead mitigation) plan to be submitted in addition to the application.  This has not been requested in the past.

  • For shotgun ranges, tracking the number of targets thrown can help indicate when the lead shot should be reclaimed. For example, considering environmental issues, the market for scrap lead and common cleanup methods, one source indicated that when a range has thrown at least 250,000 to 1,000,000 targets, depending on the shooting area, reclamation of the lead shot is encouraged. Another reclaimer indicated that if at least two pounds of lead per square foot have accumulated on the range, reclamation is recommended. Source (Chapter III - Page III-16

  • Sample Stewardship Plans are available and will be used to create our own plan.

  • Due diligence is needed for estimating how many rounds may be in the trap fields and documenting how many rounds are fired going forward.

  • Applications are open for submission on March 15th

Venue Use/Rental Proposal for Professional Firearms Instructors

  • Lots of feedback received at the townhall in opposition to the effort.  Town Hall feedback readout (Link pages 17-19)

  • Member Survey sent out to members who were not at the townhall and the data presented at the meeting. (Link)

  • The issue has been tabled.

  • There was not any interest in conducting a retrospective - the issue “has been beaten to death already”.

The American Legion has asked if BVSC would be interested in partnering with them on a youth air gun program. https://www.legion.org/shooting This would be similar to the work Jake is doing with the youth shotgun team. The legion would like to use our rifle range to coach youth in shooting highly accurate air rifles. BVSC is waiting to get more information from the Legion before discussions are had.

Trap League - Preston Ellis

  • May 15th running for about seven (7) weeks finishing the end of June, with the potential for a Fall league

  • USA Clays Trap (Youth) will begin the first Wednesday in April and run on Wednesday and Saturdays

Jerry suggested that the board have a discussion about clarifying use of electronic communications in the club’s bylaws.

Meeting adjourned at 8:13 PM
